This exhilarating afternoon presented by the Nottinghatn & District Society of Organists (NDSO) held at Beeston Methodist Church Chilwell Road, Beeston focuses on the beautiful, soul touching Welsh hymn tune and Welsh music. We discover the history of the congregational hymn in the Welsh chapels as well as hear about their composers and of course the inevitable birth of the male voice choir, with live examples!
The seminar will be led by NDSO members Derek Wilernan, Dauid Gabe and Denis Littleton with our guest Rick Morrish and affords the chance to hear the excellent Wadsworth & Bro. pipe organ found here in fine condition.
The final part of our day provides an opportunity for us all to sing along to the most famous of the Welsh hymn tunes we have discovered with the joint choirs of BMC Chilwell Road, St John’s Beeston and St Mary’s Attenborough conducted by Chris Bridges and with English/Welsh introductions by Howell Price. Other choirs, choristers and Male Voice Choirs are most welcome to take part in the ‘massed choir’! Proceeds from the voluntary collection to Tenovus Cancer Care (lWelsh charity) and the Organist Benevolent Fund.
