Damekoret Hedda, Women’s Choir from Norway, and the Bling Singers, a local group. This concert has been arranged by Simon Thompson and a large audience is expected..
Damekoret Hedda consists of about 24 song-happy ladies. They focus on having a varied repertoire, alternating between having ecclesiastical and secular music in focus. The choir was founded in 1969 under the name Heimdal female choir. The choir changed its name to Damekoret (Women’s Choir) Hedda in 2004.
The choir has been on overseas trips to Scotland, Prague, Tallin, Riga and England, and has participated in “Sing with us” in Bergen and several choral competitions where they have gone to the top of their class, winning both 1st and 2nd place. In March 2016, they participated in the international competition in Riva del Garda, and received a Gold Diploma. http://damekorethedda.no
The Bling Singers are a small group of talented singers who came together in November 2013 to sing for fun, friendship and to support local charities.

This award-winning Dutch jazz violinist is seen by many as the inheritor of jazz violin legend Stéphane Grappelli’s crown. Here, his trio, now in their 10th year, bring their compelling interplay to Grappelli’s high-energy gypsy swing and jazzed-up classical tunes. This is part of the Village Ventures programme supported by Nottinghamshire County Council.
Classically trained at the Amsterdam Conservatoire, taught to improvise by fiery gypsy jazz legends such as The Rosenberg Trio and Fapy Lafertin, Dutch jazz violinist Tim Kliphuis combines dazzling perfection and complete musical freedom like no-one else in the world. He is the foremost ambassador for the music of Stéphane Grappelli and for the enduringly distinctive gypsy swing style that Grappelli invented with his Hot Club de France partner Django Reinhardt.
In this trio show he reminisces about his inspirational meeting with the French jazz violin maestro and his experiences with the European guitar gypsies, and plays an array of beautiful and uplifting songs from the Parisian left bank, including little-known gems composed by Grappelli himself.
‘The music of Grappelli is alive and well in the hands of Tim Kliphuis and his musicians.’ Nigel Kennedy
‘Dazzling and dynamic finger-busters, joie de vivre and romance.’ Scotland on Sunday
‘Playfully inventive and technically brilliant.’ ★★★★ The Scotsman
